T-Ball Season is Here!

I was reminiscing with Dean Saturday night and I reminded him of a comment he made while we were in the hospital with Tommy the day after he was born.  We had just been told that he would need brain surgery, which included the possibility of a shunt.  With a shunt, contact sports are completely out of the question forever.  Once we wrapped our mind around what would most likely be happening to our baby, Dean sadly commented, "Well, I guess I'll never coach him in baseball."

Fast forward four and a half years.  This Saturday was the start of Tommy's first ever baseball-ish season.  T-Ball, to be exact.  And guess who's his head coach?  Yep, Dean.  For reasons that I know I'll never understand, God chose to answer our prayers and not only did Tommy turn out ok, but he never even needed surgery.  But we also had to come to the realization during those first few months of uncertainty that even if the outcome was the worst it could possibly be, God was still sovereign.  And still good.

So here are some highlights from Saturday.  While his team was in the field, they would all dive for the ball every time it was hit.  Whoever says T-Ball is laid back has clearly never seen kids play it!  Tommy would watch the ball hit the ground and no matter where it went, he would watch it land and then take a few steps forward, dive, and roll on the ground.  Usually nowhere near the ball. But he had a blast doing it.  However, when I turned on the camera to capture one of those moments, this is what happened:
