Nursing Home Wedding

We went to Washington DC in December for the wedding of Dean's cousin Emily to Nick Kriz. It was awesome and we had a great time, but Dean and Emily's grandmother was not able to make it. So this weekend they had a little re-enactment and brought the wedding to Granny at Westminster Oaks. Emily wore Sally's dress (which was absolutely beautiful), I played the piano, Tommy was the ring bearer, and Dean performed the 90 second ceremony. I think Granny really enjoyed it. And so did the other 20 or so residents who raced to get a seat in the sunroom. I guess it's not every day that a woman walks through an assisted living facility in a wedding dress! One man apologized for showing up uninvited, but Emily and Nick were so gracious. They even made personal visits to the rooms of residents who were bed-ridden!

After the ceremony, we all headed to the Bistro down the hall for an ice cream cup reception.   Tommy was in his glory.

  1. Krissie, I'm not kidding. This is the sweetest thing I've ever seen. Hope Mema didn't steal the ring. Watch your back.
